Pelvic Organ Prolapse

Pelvic Organ Prolapse

Prolapse is a common pelvic floor disorder that occurs when pelvic organs bulge downwards, usually through the vaginal canal. The most common symptom of prolapse is pressure in the vagina. Prolapse can be treated with a pessary or with surgery.

If you have been diagnosed

If you have been diagnosed with prolapse, a few initial steps to avoid worsening of your condition are: avoid lifting heavy weights, avoid standing for hours at a time, make sure you have regular soft bowel movements and see your family doctor about treating your lungs to avoid coughing for long periods of time.
